The Natural Health Science Foundation (NHSF) was incorporated as an independent, not for profit organisation to assist patients, consumers and health professionals to make informed natural medicine product choices based on robust science.

NHSF believes natural medicines should, and will, take their rightful place in modern scientific medical practice if they conform to established best practices of quality, safety and evidence. This will help people live healthier lives.

Challenges to the supply chain in natural medicines are complex and dynamic. Importantly, the complexities of the natural medicine supply chain, from ‘source to patient’ requires a high degree of control to deliver reliable health results every production batch. This supply chain needs transparency and independent rigour to support it. Additionally, the NHSF believes that the raw materials used to produce natural medicines must be ethically and sustainability sourced.

Quality controls and consistency in manufacturing are integral to both the health benefits and the safety of natural medicines.

NHSF believes it is essential that all natural health products substantiate health claims with product specific research and clinical studies, thus reaching the standards of evidence based medicine.
